Just When we Thought H1N1 Swine Flu had Flown the Coop
There was an interesting lull in swine flu pandemic reports. A few US reports even stated that swine flu wasn’t spreading as quickly as anticipated. Well, just in time for congress’ recess and the looming, major battle for the healthcare bill that is expected to ensue, we have a Chinese expert, Zhong Nanshan, director of the Guangzhou Institute of Respiratory Diseases in China’s southern Guangdong province, saying that the swine flu and bird flu, “could mix and become a monstrous hybrid – a bug packed with strong killing power that can transmit efficiently among people.” This was reported in a www.reuters.com article.
The article also states that the World Health Organization (WHO) is saying that, “The most obvious risk is of H5N1 (bird flu) combining with the pandemic (H1N1 swine flu) virus, producing a flu virus that is as deadly as the former and as contagious as the latter.” Now, please don’t panic. And please do start to thank God for your health if you are basically healthy, and for informed scientists and doctors.
It has already been discovered, months ago in fact, that the swine flu is a combo of pig genes, bird genes and human genes. A September www.wsj.com health blog stated that, “experiments conducted so far suggest the new H1N1 virus isn’t terribly prone to doomsday changes. Viruses can change through either mutation of genetic material, or by reassorting with another flu virus. The new virus is lacking certain characteristics that would allow it to mutate to become more virulent,” said Nancy Cox, chief of the CDC’s influenza division. “It would be difficult for this virus to acquire some of those known virulence markers.”
That being said, it is likely that the above mentioned Chinese expert may be spreading a bit of communist propaganda for the purpose of inciting just enough fear that China’s people can be more easily controlled – because that’s really what communism is about. Using fear and big government mandates to maintain control of the people it oppresses. Such manipulative means keep the people dependent on big government, thereby keeping the government empowered rather than the people.
As badly as the present Washington administration wants to cram the healthcare bill down the throats of “We the People” and increase the size of government, don’t be surprised if this “disaster” gets picked up in mainstream media and spread far and wide. Keep in mind that flu season typically peaks in the winter. It will be interesting to see if they decide that the swine flu vaccine, a vaccine which has been fast tracked through the FDA, is not working. Especially if (and probably when) they decide it has mutated.
